AUGMENTED REALITY MUSEUM APP:
CABINET OF CURIOSITIES
Summer 2020

An Augmented Reality (AR) mobile app I did for my local museum in the summer of 2020, in order to help people view historical artifacts from their homes during COVID. I photoscanned artifacts and turned them into digital 3D models, where they could be placed 'on' real life surfaces using AR. Using your phone's camera, the app combines virtual objects with your real-life background surroundings. You can walk around and view the object from any position, and learn more about its history and context. Artifacts can be collected by scanning images on posters ('collect' mode), or placed in any order with the 'select' mode. The app is available on Google Play for non-apple devices - can you collect all the artifacts?

GENERATIVE DESIGN: RAILING BRACKETS
Spring 2021

In this project, I used a branch of machine learning called 'Generative Design' to optimize material usage and strength in metal railing brackets. I prototyped a bunch of designs following Canada's building code, empathized with the user to narrow down generated prototypes, 3D printed the bracket in stainless steel, and tested it in a real world environment. My railing bracket uses 53% the material of other designs, while remaining just as strong. Saving even a tiny bit of metal with a new railing bracket design is huge for sustainability - a small decrease multiplied by millions of parts adds up, especially as metal has increased in price 3x since COVID!

This project is split into two parts - a pitch/explanation video and a project showcase.

COMPETITION: CHARACTER ANIMATION
A 3D character animation project that won me a provincial & national gold medal as part of Skills Alberta (Spring 2021). Prior to this project, I had no experience with animation, this self directed project taught me everything from character modelling and rigging to keyframing, posing, and giving an object life! Everything was made in Blender 2.92, and all the animation, backgrounds, & sounds were made during the 6 hour speed-competition.

BUSINESS: STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY
An entrepreneurial design project where renders and images are sold to other businesses as stock content. As of summer 2021, my images have been purchased more than 1,600 times. Here is a collection of some of the photos I've made:
ANIMATION: THE DRAKE EQUATION
5
Spring/Summer 2020
My submission for the 2020 Khan Academy Breakthrough Junior Challenge, which scored in the top 5% of entries globally. All artwork, audio, animations and edits were done by me.
ANIMATION: MY DREAM SUMMER

Spring 2020
My gold-medal winning submission for the Skills Alberta 2020 2D/3D animation contest. All art hand painted and animated by me in Photoshop, After Effects, & Premiere Pro.

EDUCATIONAL GAME: WINTERSTORM
An educational adventure game where the player plays a bear roaming around a forest. The bear must find enough food to survive and find a den before winter arrives. Winterstorm was a completely self directed project built and coded in the Unity game engine during the early spring of 2019.

PHYSICS SIMULATION GAME: SHOT BLOCK
8
A jenga-block based physics destruction game I coded in February 2020. The game includes 16 levels with different objectives, procedurally spawned enemies and movement using a NavMesh, collectibles, a minimap, tutorial, and much more. This game was coded in C# in the Unity 3D game engine.
SCIENTIFIC ANIMATION: CELL MODEL
8
A labeled 3D model of an animal cell made 100% by me in February 2021. It includes models and descriptions of different cell organelles and their parts/function, such as the Nucleus, Golgi Apparatus, Rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER), Cytoplasm, Lysomes, Mitochondria, Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER), Vacuoles, Centrioles & Cell membrane.
